MACE Conference
Title of Workshop: Take Your Kids Global

As I viewed many of the MACE Conference handouts I came across a session called 'Take Your Kids Global'. The presenters listed many online activities that you could do with elementary students. I was very intrigued by this information. Many of these projects used 21st century learning skills. They had links for finding projects, info on how to create your own global project, and examples of projects the presenters had been involved in and ones they had created on their own such as 'How tall is a first grader?' and the 'Pumpkin Project'. I would like to integrate the pumpkin project into our first grade curriculum next year.

Title of Workshop: Integrating the GPS into the Classroom

I really enjoyed this MACE Conference session on integrating GPS systems into the classroom. I have always wanted to do this but didn't know where to start with elementary students. This session gave me great ideas on how to use a GPS starting with kindergarten and first grade students. The presenters also shared many powerpoints on how to get started and different ways to use GPS systems in all content areas like art, language arts, math, science and social studies. I am very glad I came across this session and plan to use the information to incorporate a lesson using GPS systems.
